Boris Becker, 17, of West Germany advanced to the final of the $200,000 Belgian American Young Masters tennis tournament Saturday at Birmingham, England by beating Sammy Giammalva, the second-round conqueror of top-seeded Mats Wilander.
Becker defeated Giammalva, 7-6, 6-3, 6-3, and will play Stefan Edberg of Sweden in today's final. Edberg upset countryman Henryk Sundstrom, 6-2, 6-3, 6-3.
Giammalva, from Houston, was the third American to be beaten by Becker, who also ousted No. 5-seeded Aaron Krickstein and Ricky Brown on the way to the semifinal.
Americans Ken Flach and Robert Seguso, both 21, defeated Sandy Mayer of the United States and Wojtek Fibak of Poland, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4, 6-4, to reach the final of the $200,000 World Doubles tournament at London.
