Las Vegas Hotel Starts Work on 29-Story Tower

January 13, 1985

Less than six months after construction started on Circus Circus Hotel-Resort's expansion in Reno, work has begun on the $38-million enlargement of its Las Vegas resort.

The Las Vegas expansion will increase the number of guest rooms by 40%. The project includes a 29-story hotel tower with 1,188 rooms, more than 1,000 additional parking spaces and a complete remodeling of the pool area. The tower will feature casino and restaurant facilities and will be connected to the existing hotel by a second-floor sky bridge spanning Circus Circus Drive.

General contractor for the Las Vegas project is Marnell Corrao Associates. The same firm also is the contractor for Reno's $34-million, 27-story hotel tower on which work began last August.

The Las Vegas construction is scheduled for completion in early 1986, according to A. A. Marnell II, president of the construction firm. The Reno addition is scheduled to open on July 4.

The existing, family-oriented facility has 1,605 guest rooms and a recreational vehicle park with 421 spaces.

Marnell Corrao is headquartered, in Las Vegas and has offices in Reno and Atlantic City.
