Shuttle to Take Off Thursday

January 23, 1985|United Press International

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Winter eased its icy grip on the space shuttle Discovery today, and technicians readied it for a flight Thursday afternoon to launch a secret satellite to eavesdrop on the Soviets.

The ship was grounded for 24 hours by cold weather--the first frost delay ever at the cape. (Story on Page 6.) But forecasters today said the temperature should remain above freezing tonight and reach 57 degrees around the secret launch time, between 1:15 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. EST.
