The shooting death of Linda Pincay, wife of Kentucky Derby-winning jockey Laffit Pincay Jr., was a suicide, the county coroner's office said Tuesday.
An autopsy showed that Mrs. Pincay, 37, died of a gunshot wound to the head, coroner's spokesman Bob Dambacher said. It was suicide, he said.
There was no immediate announcement about funeral services.
A .22-caliber pistol was found in Mrs. Pincay's hand, police detective Tony Diaz said Tuesday. She was discovered Friday afternoon in the bedroom of the family home in Hollywood by her daughter, Lisa.
She was in critical condition and on life support at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital following the shooting. She was pronounced dead at 3:05 p.m. Sunday.
Mrs. Pincay had been in ill health since suffering a ruptured appendix last year.
