Mideast Talks End in Discord

January 24, 1985|Associated Press

NAQOURA, Lebanon — Lebanese and Israeli negotiators concluded their 14th session of troop withdrawal talks in apparent discord today and set no date for a new session.

"The delegations maintained their earlier positions and agreed to leave open the date of the next meeting," said U.N. spokesman Timur Goksel at the end of the four-hour discussions. The two military delegations sparred over whether Israeli's announced withdrawal plan fulfills Lebanon's demand for a specific timetable for the pullout, sources said.
