Six homes designed by members of the San Diego chapter of the American Institute of Architects were selected as winners of the 1985 San Diego Home/Garden-American Institute of Architects Residential Design Awards.
Winners, to be pictured in the February issue of San Diego Home/Garden, include a seaside home in La Jolla with tiled courtyards, a house with a sophisticated interior and a remodeled Craftsman-era bungalow.
The team of Bruce R. Dammann of PBD Architects and developer John McKenna Case is responsible for the remodeling of a 1926 La Jolla oceanside home; architect Tony Ciani worked with custom home builders, Bruce and Susan McDonald, to expand a house for the newlyweds and her two children.
A contemporary remodel won an award for architect Don Coordt and two classic designs updated for the '80s won awards for architect Marc Tarasuck. Suncliff Solar townhomes by Peter Odlund also was recognized by jurors of the design award event.
Winners received ceramic sculptures created by San Diego artist Joanne Stuhr.
