The State

January 28, 1985

The public will have the chance to tell state utility regulators how they feel about the proposed utility rates for Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power plant in two days of public hearings in San Luis Obispo. The California Public Utilities Commission set March 21-22 as the dates for public evidentiary hearings on rate questions involving the plant. Pacific Gas & Electric Co. has applied to increase electric rates to recover the cost of owning, operating and ultimately retiring Unit One of the $5.4-billion plant near Avila Beach in San Luis Obispo County. An evidentiary hearing was also set for Feb. 5 in San Francisco.
