Arizona Ranch to Be U.S. Wildlife Refuge

WASHINGTON — The government plans to spend $9 million to buy a ranch near Tucson to use as a national wildlife refuge for the endangered masked bobwhite quail, Interior Secretary Donald P. Hodel said Wednesday.

"The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service believes that Buenos Aires Ranch is the only place in the United States providing suitable habitat for the masked bobwhite quail," Hodel said.
