RICHFIELD, Ohio — San Diego's Steve Zungul, who can be a magician with a soccer ball, says he used no tricks when he booted in the game-clinching goal as the West took an 11-7 victory over the East in Sunday's sixth annual Major Indoor Soccer League All-Star Game.
The goal, with four minutes remaining, came after Baltimore's Stan Stamenkovic had pulled the East within 8-7 on his third goal of the second half.
"I got out ahead of everybody and knew what I was going to do," Zungul said. "I just didn't give him (East goalie Scott Manning) a chance to react. I didn't fake or anything. I just took the shot, and I think that surprised him."
Zungul, the MISL's leading career scorer, had three goals in Sunday's game, including two in the final four minutes. He and San Diego teammate Branko Segota each scored goals in the last minute.
