House Committee Votes $7 Billion for Highways

February 28, 1985|Associated Press

WASHINGTON — Long-delayed legislation to release $7.2 billion for interstate highway construction was approved Wednesday by the House Public Works and Transportation Committee and sent to the House floor.

A sharply different version of the bill was approved Saturday by the Senate on a 94-0 vote. Wrangling between the two bodies over highway funding blocked passage of a bill last year and Congress instead approved a stop-gap road measure.
