MESA, Ariz. — Ken Forsch, who sat out almost all of last season with a dislocated shoulder, had just finished pitching batting practice at the Angels' training base Wednesday.
Doug DeCinces, an impressed observer, shook his head and said: "He was awesome. It made me realize again just how much we missed him last year."
Forsch did not start after suffering his injury in his second game. Now, however, he appears to have regained his berth in a rotation that includes Geoff Zahn, Ron Romanick and Mike Witt.
"I warmed up hard for 10 minutes today and then threw 15 minutes of BP," Forsch said. "That's 25 minutes full out. No apprehension or no discomfort. I felt better than I ever felt last spring. Now I feel the same."
