A 264-unit, 20-acre condominium project for the Rancho San Clemente Specific Plan area has been approved by the City Council.
The project by Elite Development Co. of Tustin calls for 100 of the units to fall under the guidelines for affordable housing, according to Steve Haubert, associate planner for the city.
Plans call for four different housing types, ranging in size from a one-bedroom, 470-square-foot unit to an 864-square-foot unit that has two bedrooms and two baths.
Construction is scheduled to take place in five phases and will be determined according to the housing market in the area, Haubert said.
The condominium site, part of the 1,943-acre Rancho San Clemente area, is located on the north side of Calle del Serro in east-central San Clemente.
