Long before Flintridge Sacred Heart High had a 22-3 basketball team, athletes at the girls' school were called the Tologs--an acronym for To Our Lady of Good Success.
This season's team, led by talented senior forward Janice Miller, has enjoyed an abundance of success.
Tonight at 7:30, Flintridge puts a 17-game winning streak on the line when it meets Boron (18-3) for the Small Schools championship at La Canada High.
Coach Bill Sanchez, whose team won the Horizon League title, expects a difficult test from Boron. In the semifinals, Flintridge edged Trona, 40-37. In two Desert-Inyo League games, Boron raced past Trona, 75-58 and 44-31.
Boron Coach Brad Wiggs believes that the Bobcats need a big game from senior forward Kim Fairchild, who is averaging 23.5 points a game, and senior guard Maggie Alston, who is averaging 13 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists.
