Man Dies After Being Shot, Dragged by Car

March 10, 1985

An unidentified man died after he was shot by another man and dragged two blocks by a car outside a Van Nuys bar Friday night, police said.

The victim, in his early 20s, was among two groups of men who got into an argument at La Frontera bar on Vanowen Street shortly before 11 p.m., police said. Investigators said witnesses told them the groups stepped outside, where shots were fired.

The victim was shot in the chest, police said, and then run over by the car carrying one of the groups of men. His clothing caught on the car and he was dragged two blocks to the corner of Hazeltine Avenue.

Police said they had made no arrests and the cause of the argument was not known.
