Wang will temporarily close its U.S. operations.

March 21, 1985

The company said it will close all of its manufacturing plants for two weeks in July, sending 6,000 employees on a mandatory summer vacation. The two-week work stoppage "will help with current expenses and push out inventories," said Frederick Wang, executive vice president of the Lowell, Mass.-based computer manufacturer. The decision to close operations for two weeks follows Wang Labs' projection that its earnings for the third quarter ending March 31 will be 30% to 40% below last year.
