KATMANDU, Nepal — Four Nepalese one-horned rhinoceroses will be sent to India in exchange for 16 Indian elephants, officials of Nepal's Department of Wild Life and Conservation said Friday.

The rhinos, long on the list of endangered species, will be delivered to the Dhudhwa National Sanctuary in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. They will be captured from the Chitwan jungles in southern Nepal, officials said.

The elephants will be used for breeding purposes in Nepal.
