Tetron Bay Defeats Dr. Daly by a Nose

Tetron Bay, ridden by Sandy Hawley, streaked to an early lead and held off a late surge by Dr. Daly, with Bill Shoemaker aboard, to win the $45,000 feature race by a nose Thursday at Santa Anita.

Evening M'Lord, ridden by Patrick Valenzuela, and Massera, with Chris McCarron up, finished in a dead-heat for third, another 1 1/2 lengths back in the 1 1/8-mile race.

Tetron Bay was timed in 1:48 3/5 and paid $13.60, $6 and $2.60. Dr. Daly returned $4 and $2.20. Evening M'Lord and Massera paid $2.20 and $2.10, respectively, to show.
