PALM SPRINGS — A strong spring has enabled Dan Ford to return to favor and the Baltimore lineup although he had hit only .231 in 91 games of an injury-plagued 1984 season. Ford will serve as the designated hitter, batting second behind Lee Lacy, and ahead of Cal Ripken, Eddie Murray, Fred Lynn and Mike Young.
