San Diego

April 09, 1985

A San Diego Gas & Electric official announced Monday that the utility will reduce its 1986 general rate increases by at least $11 million. Company spokesman Dave Smith said SDG&E officials have not computed the amount of money the average residential household should save, because more reductions are expected to be announced April 24, when the utility is to formally revise the 1986 increase. The $123-million increase was to take effect Jan. 1, Smith said. But because of the "continuing health of the economy and lower projections of inflation and interest rates," the company has lowered the increase.
