Preps HIGHLIGHTS : Channel Islands Upsets Royal as Marmonte League Tightens

After a big win over Simi Valley last week, Royal could manage only two hits against Channel Islands Wednesday.

The result was a 9-2 loss in a Marmonte League game at Channel Islands.

Pat Almeido struck out six to record his second win.

Channel Islands is 1-6 in league; Royal is 3-3.


Chatsworth (6-0), the defending City champion and owner of three straight West Valley League titles, remained unbeaten with a 15-2, 15-10, 15-17 and 15-9 victory over Taft (3-3).

In other West Valley volleyball contests, Kennedy (5-1) took three straight from Canoga Park (2-4), 15-12, 15-4 and 15-1.

El Camino Real (2-4) took three from winless Cleveland, 15-13, 15-10 and 15-9.


Corvallis 4, Bell-Jeff 3

Jeannete Rodes struck out seven and walked three in the Corvallis (2-6) win. She also doubled in two runs to help the cause.

Leticia Chavez and Aline Bachtiarian also had run-scoring hits.
