Robert Urich of "Vega$" and Carl Weathers of "Rocky" are starring in a remake for ABC of the 1958 film "The Defiant Ones." Tony Curtis and Sidney Poitier originally played the roles of convicts who escape while chained together, then must overcome their racial animosity to avoid being captured.

Stephanie Zimbalist of "Remington Steele" and Alec Baldwin of "Knots Landing" will star in a TV movie for NBC called "Love on the Run." She plays an attorney who falls in love with a convict client, helps him escape from prison and then goes on the lam with him to avoid capture by authorities.

Loretta Lynn, Glen Campbell and Janie Fricke will host "The 20th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards," due to be broadcast May 6 on NBC. Alabama, one of the nominees for Entertainer of the Year, will perform on the program. Other nominees in that category are Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr., Ricky Skaggs and the Oak Ridge Boys.

Bob Barker and Joan Van Ark will host "The 1985 Miss USA Pageant," which CBS plans to televise May 13. Entertainment will be provided by Lee Greenwood and Kool and the Gang.
