Micro D revealed merger talks with First Software.

April 23, 1985

A merger of the two wholesalers would make Micro D the nation's largest distributor of personal-computer products, said Lorraine Mecca, the Santa Ana company's founder, vice chairman and chief executive. Mecca said that, although no papers have been signed, "there is agreement on both sides that we want to do the deal." Micro D had $114 million in sales last year, while First Software, based in Lawrence, Mass., had sales of $60 million.
