OUTTAKES

April 28, 1985

UNLISTED NUMBER--The best-known name in the cast of the low-budget comedy "Moving Violations" is curiously absent from the credits. Robert Conrad appears in half a dozen scenes as a bedraggled police chief trying to keep his zealous traffic cops in check--but he's never acknowledged.

According to a spokesman at 20th Century Fox, Conrad did it as a favor to Pat Proft, an old friend who co-wrote the picture: "We'd describe it as an uncredited star turn. It's no different than Robert De Niro's role in (the upcoming) 'Brazil' or Darren McGavin's part in 'The Natural,' neither of which was mentioned in the credits."
