The Hollywood Bowl's first invitational Chili Cook-Off, in which more than 75 chili teams will compete, will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hollywood Bowl.

Contestants will compete under International Chili Society rules, and the winners will go on to state and national chili cook-offs. Awards will also be given for best showmanship and best booth decorations.

Chili samples will be available for public tasting. Entertainment will be provided by country-Western bands, folk musicians, square dancers, big bands and jazz ensembles.

Celebrity Judges

Scheduled judges include television personalities Herve Villechaize, Iron Eyes Cody, Barbara Bosson, Tom Hallech and Peter Mark Richman. Food experts Jackie Olden and Paul Wallach, as well as judges from the International Chili Society, will also be on hand to participate in the judging.

The Hollywood Bowl's Chili Cook-Off is presented in association with the 6th Aspen Airways' "Airlines of the World" Chili Cook-Off. Teams from all major airlines will be competing, as well as teams from the Los Angeles Philharmonic and other arts organizations, radio stations and businesses.

Cost for admission is $6 for adults, $3 for children 12 and younger. Parking is free. Food, beverages, chili cook-off and Hollywood Bowl souvenirs will be on sale.
