Six women basketball players, a water polo player and a swimmer have signed letters of intent to attend Pepperdine University.
The basketball players are forwards Diane DeSantis of Maine West High School in Des Plaines, Ill., and Michelle Stevens of Westlake High, guards Kari Christensen of Pleasant Valley High in Chico, Stephanie Meneze of Moreau High in Hayward and Bonnie Williams of Long Beach City College, and 6-3 center Margaret Clark of Lutheran High in Denver.
The water polo player is Roberto Borelli, a junior transfer from Brazil who played goalie for his national team in the 1984 Olympics, and the swimmer is Eric Larson of Lodi High, a prep All-American breaststroker.
DeSantis averaged 20.2 points and 12 rebounds a game last season and was a second-team all-Illinois selection. Christensen, all-state and Northern California player of the year, averaged 18.3 points and 10 rebounds to lead Pleasant Valley to a 28-0 record and the state Division II championship. Meneze, another all-state performer, averaged 16.3 points and 8.5 assists for a 24-5 Moreau team.
