May 07, 1985|From Reuters

HELSINKI, Finland — A leading Finnish labor union federation called on the government Monday to cut trade ties and investment with South Africa to protest against apartheid.

The SAK federation, which has one million members, is controlled by the Social Democrats, the biggest of the four parties in the coalition government.

Foreign Minister Paavo Vaeyrynen, a member of the Center Party, has said the country will stick to its traditional policy of maintaining trade ties.
