The Santa Monica-based aerospace and electronics firm said it was temporarily closing a Cleveland manufacturing facility pending the outcome of a Defense Department investigation of alleged quality-control problems. A spokesman said the company has laid off 387 hourly workers at its Power Equipment division plant, which makes parts for the cruise and Patriot missiles and the F-16 jet fighter. The spokesman declined to comment on charges by employees that they had been ordered by supervisors to falsify quality-control tests.
