License Fees

May 16, 1985

In past years, as your car got one year older, the cost of auto registration decreased. So, when I received my registration bill, I was surprised to see that it was the same amount as last year. After making a dozen inquiries, I was told that the Legislature had frozen the rates for one year. Now California has a tremendous surplus, and the lawmakers are debating what to do with it. Simple. Since they took extra money from us, give it back to us.
