Walnut

May 16, 1985

The Walnut City Council has voted to purchase an $89,000 IBM System/36 computer to be used by the city manager's office, the city clerk's office and the finance department. City Manager Robert Dickey said that at present the city pays Xerox Corp. $20,000 a year for a computer that can be used only for financial purposes. He said the IBM also can handle word processing and has an expanded capacity. Dickey said the expanded system was necessary because Walnut is the sixth fastest growing city in the state, with a population that has grown in the past two years from 13,600 to 17,776.
