The Nation

May 20, 1985

Prosecutors trying to convict socialite Claus von Bulow of trying to murder his wife enter their final week of his retrial in Providence, R.I., with the status of one of their most important witnesses unresolved. The judge will decide early this week whether to let the jury review the 1982 testimony of Alexandra Isles. Isles, a 39-year-old Manhattan socialite and a former soap opera actress, was a surprise witness at Von Bulow's first trial, when she told about her on-again, off-again love affair with the Danish-born aristocrat.
