5The sixth annual International Conference on Automation and Reprographics in Design Firms--billed as the largest show of its kind in the world--will be held Monday through Friday at the Anaheim Convention Center.
About 16,000 design professionals are expected to attend A/E Systems '85, where more than 250 vendors will display equipment for computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) as well as automation and reprographics. They will include Intergraph, Computervision, IBM and Calma.
Reinforcing the growing availability of CADD at the personal computer level, the most recent software for that use will be featured by vendors, including MegaCADD Inc., Autodeks Inc. and T W Systems. Among systems to be featured are three-dimensional data bases for personal computers that rise a step above the two-dimensional linear drafting.
A panel discussion, "Where Are We?" Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. will examine the architect/engineers' need to become familiar with CADD and the industry's challenge to learn from users in order to design more relevant systems.
