City College Inaugurates Realty Program

An internship program to provide real estate students with firsthand experience, has been inaugurated at Los Angeles City College, according to Stelle Feuers, college president.

Other changes in the real estate program include identification of prospective students, a more active role for the department's advisory committee, the restructuring of the curriculum and the practice of having outside professionals provide classroom instruction.

"Our program is designed to provide our students with practical knowledge, allowing them to get jobs immediately on graduation and to pass the licensing examination," according to Charles Stapleton, professor and vice chairman of the law and business departments.

The internship program, to be implemented formally during the fall semester, will place students with mortgage companies, escrow offices, realty brokerages, banks and construction companies. Several students are currently interning at a Los Angeles mortgage company,.
