June 07, 1985|Nancy Wride

Police have arrested two people suspected of robbing a Garden Grove jewelry store of $40,000 in gold and jewelry, a police spokesman said Thursday.

Garden Grove Police Sgt. Scott Jordan said Santa Ana Patrolman Roger Benoit arrested the two suspects at 4 p.m. Wednesday, only 15 minutes after the robbery at Bao Ngoc Jewelry Store at 9577 Bolsa Ave.

He said about $20,000 in jewelry believed taken from the store was recovered when Tien Van Nguyen, 18, of Westminster and a 15-year-old boy were arrested.

Jordan said the Santa Ana patrolman made the arrest after he stopped the two at the intersection of 5th and Fairview streets.

Nguyen was booked into the Orange County Jail and charged with armed robbery. Bail was set at $50,000. The youth was taken to Juvenile Hall, Jordan said.
