Westside Athletes to Compete in Israel

June 13, 1985

Valerie Zimring of Cheviot Hills, a member of the U.S. national team in rhythmic gymnastics at the 1984 Olympics, and Alla Svirsky, who coached that team, will lead a large contingent of Westside athletes who will compete for the United States in the World Maccabiah Games, July 15-25, in Israel.

Competitors from Beverly Hills include Philip Krevoy and Eddie Massey in volleyball, Maury Ornest in softball, David and Todd Seidner in water polo and Louis Klass in squash.

Culver City athletes are Martin Rubinoff in softball and Eric Stone in volleyball.

West Los Angeles team members include William Cohn in water polo, Adrian Cole and Joseph Siegman in lawn bowling, Nolan Day in rugby, Laurence Draluck in soccer, David Gordon in squash, Cheryl Kriegsman in swimming, Marina Kunyavsky in rhythmic gymnastics; Sandra Leventhal, Philip Melese and Kenneth Rogers in volleyball and Steve March, Michael Orloff and Kenneth Schwartz in softball.

George Harris Jr. of Marina del Rey is the water polo coach, and Karen and Louise Schwartz of Pacific Palisades will be on the women's volleyball team.

Santa Monica athletes include Robert Garbell in tennis, Jason Meisler in track, Stephanie Rubin and Susan Schwartz in volleyball and Helman Todes in lawn bowling.

Venice resident Alan Levin will compete in pistol shooting.
