Academy Student Film Awards To Be Given Sunday

June 15, 1985

Three California film makers will be honored Sunday at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 12th annual Student Film Awards, to be held in the Samuel Goldwyn Theater at 7:30 p.m.

CalArts student William G. Kopp will receive the animation achievement award for his film "Observational Hazard" (he won the animation merit award in 1984 for his film, "Mr. Gloom"), while the dramatic achievement award will go to USC's Camille Thomasson for her film, "Heroes."

Lucy Ostrander from Stanford University will take a merit award for her 27-minute film, "Witness to Revolution: The Story of Anna Louise Strong."

At the ceremony, the winning films will be screened and directors Arthur Hiller and Martha Coolidge will join other celebrities in presenting the awards.
