Lavette Teague, professor of computer information systems at Cal Poly Pomona, has been chosen as a Fulbright scholar. Teague will conduct graduate seminars in systems analysis and design at the Univeristy of the Republic in Montevideo, Uruguay, and in computer graphics and design in Brazil. Teague graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has taught at Cal Poly Pomona since 1980. Fulbright scholarships----for study, teaching lecturing or research abroad----are awarded by the Board of Foreign Scholarships, which is appointed by the President.

Dr. Manmhan Kumar has been named chief of staff at Glendora Community Hospital. Kumar will succeed Dr. Donald Shapiro, who will become quality assurance director. Baidyanath Prasad was named president and Dr. Felimon Soria was named secretary treasurer.

James Helms Jr. of Arcadia has been named president of the Board of Directors of the San Gabriel Valley Lawyer Referral Service. Helms, a former Mayor of Arcadia, will replace Victor Tessier of Pomona. The San Gabriel Valley Lawyer Referral Service is a nonprfit public service organization certified by the State Bar of California to provide free lawyer referrals to the public.

Five San Gabriel Valley residents in the School of Business Administration at Cal Poly Pomona have been named outstanding educators by the univeristy. They are assistant professor of accounting Willie Adamson of West Covina; Ontario resident Angelo Bentivegna, who is chairman of the hotel, restaurant and travel management department; Richard Bergstrom, professor of finance, real estate and law from San Dimas; La Verne resident Peter Dawson, a professor of management and human resources; and Glendora resident Katherine Seibert, also a professor of management and human resources.

Warren Hertenstein, a member of the first graduating class of Citrus College in Glendora in 1917, has been awarded the Citrus College Alumni Achievement Award. Hertenstein, a former school administrator and chemical engineer, will be honored at the college's commencement exercises at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Julie Matsumoto, a registered dietitian from Pasadena, has been named dietitian of the year by the California Dietetic Assn.
