I am certain that our civilization has digressed when a no-talent bimbo like Cyndi (septic-toned) Lauper achieves the top rank in VideOlympics (by Terry Atkinson, June 16), while talents such as Bryan Ferry or David Bowie gain mediocre-to-"dull" reviews.
C'mon guys, who really cares about the "rock and wrestling connection," which is so overly emotionally externalized as to make words such as plastic and idiotic grand understatements. Obviously, the lack of talent in the pop world has left a great impression on those people who review it, the Times' staff included.
Let's try to remember what the word artist really means before we praise a trite, cotton-candy queen for a video endeavor that insults anyone with a taste for talent or an IQ above room temperature.
