Ireland's Inflation Falls to Lowest Level in 17 Years

DUBLIN, Ireland — Ireland's inflation rate fell to 5.2% in the year ended in mid-May, the republic's government said, the lowest rate since 1968.

During the same period a year ago, Ireland's inflation rate stood at 9.7%. The government statement predicted that inflation would remain below 6% during the coming year.

Inflation soared to a high of 24.5% in Ireland during the year ended May, 1975.
