Jackie Gleason and Art Carney, long recognized as best buddies Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton of "Honeymooners" fame, will play a couple of other friends in a TV movie for CBS. It's called "Izzy and Moe" and will feature them as New York boozebusters during the Prohibition. . . . Carney also is portraying a pilot in "The Blue Yonder," a TV movie for the Disney Channel.
Billy Crystal has been set to host "A Comedy Salute to Baseball," an hourlong entertainment special that NBC plans to broadcast July 15, the night before the All-Star game. Scheduled to appear on the show are such baseball stars as Reggie Jackson, Steve Garvey and Dwight Gooden, Dodgers' manager Tommy Lasorda, Yankees' owner George Steinbrenner and former players Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle.
Former Miss Universe Shawn Weatherly will take on the role of deep sea diver in "OceanQuest," a five-part documentary series that will air on NBC in September. She and producer-director Al Giddings will take viewers around the world to see shipwrecks, sunken treasures, whales and Great White sharks.
Ellen Burstyn will star in "Brian Walker, Please Call Home," a TV movie for CBS. She plays the mother of a 19-year-old son who mysteriously disappears while driving from his home in Ottawa (Canada) to Boulder, Colo. Based on a true case, the film shows what she and her other son, played by Sam Robards, had to go through to learn what happened to him.
