Proud of Building

July 07, 1985

I was recently forwarded an article praising "noted" San Diego architect Richard Bundy ("Architect Takes Look at San Diego," June 17). Mr. Bundy designed the building across the street from the Driver Insurance Building, which he finds "godawfulest, ugliest." Could Mr. Bundy be envious of the fact that the Driver Building, four months after completion, approaches 90% occupancy while I understand that his structure still maintains approximately 5% rental and that tenancy is the owners?

The Sheldon L. Pollack Corp. and its wholly owned architectural subsidiary Norbert W. Pieper, AIA, Inc. have been in existence over 30 years and during that period have designed and constructed numerous award-winning facilities, including university buildings and your own Seaport Village.

We were born out of an architectural-engineering office whose principals decided that they were tired of having architects design projects for their own egos and without regard for the owners' pocketbooks and, in many cases, for the owners' use of the project.

We are proud of the Driver Insurance Building. We, our client and our business associates find it an attractive, functional structure supplying to the insurance industry warm and comfortable offices at a fair market price. We are delighted to have our name so identified.
