A contract agreement has been reached between union negotiators and Safeway and Lucky grocery stores over a threatened strike by warehouse workers and truck drivers in Northern California. Teamsters Union Joint Council 7 and the Food Employers Council have announced that workers will vote next weekend on a three-year contract that includes provisions for increased employment of part-time workers.
