Azusa

August 01, 1985

The city has acquired the last of several parcels of land on Dalton Avenue, across from City Hall, on which it plans to build a senior citizens center. Money from the Community Development Block Grant program was used to purchase the site in Azusa's redevelopment area.

Ground breaking for a $2.1-million center is expected to take place within two months, Mayor Eugene Moses said, and the building may be completed early in 1986. Moses said almost 400 senior citizens are served in the city's nutrition program in Memorial Park, which will be converted to other use when the center is completed.
