Upholding an earlier decision by the Planning Commission, the City Council has turned down a request by the owner of the Cat Patch, a topless bar, for permission to continue to operate his business on Imperial Highway in Santa Fe Springs. The council found that the bar violates city zoning laws prohibiting adult businesses within 500 feet of preschools and property zoned for residences.
The city has sent a letter to bar owner John Marsh, ordering him to halt topless dancing in the bar, City Atty. William Camil said. It is the topless nature of the bar, and not the bar itself, that violates the zoning regulations, Camil said. "With a couple of pasties, they can comply with our ordinance," he said.
