While on vacation we arrived at Howard Johnson's in Key West with confirmed June 27 reservations. They had fouled up and had already charged my credit card for a June 24 no-show. Can you imagine? They demanded my credit card to charge us again for June 27 with the assurance that they would credit me for the June 24 mistake. When I refused to let them double-bill me, they demanded money, cash, to guarantee "phone charges" for that night. Great hospitality.
