Greg Bruckner of Manhattan Beach chipped in for a birdie on the first playoff hole Friday to defeat Tim Robinson of Palo Alto and win the 19th annual Pacific Coast Amateur golf championship at the Los Angeles Country Club.
Bruckner, 25, and Robinson, 23, each had a two-over-par 73 in the final round to tie at 286 for 72 holes.
After Bruckner made a par-saving six-foot putt on the 18th hole, Robinson barely missed an eight-foot putt that would have given him a par and the championship.
Bruckner then birdied the 523-yard par-5 first playoff hole to win the title.
Brad Greer of Huntington Beach and Ed Cuff Jr. of La Mesa tied for third at 287. Greer had a 71 on the 6,895-yard North Course, Cuff a 73.
Next, at 289, was Duffy Waldorf of Tarzana, who had a 75.
Finishing at 290 were Sam Randolph of Santa Barbara and Tracy Nakazaki of Manhattan Beach.
