MCI settled another phone antitrust lawsuit.

August 14, 1985

The long-distance carrier and Centel Corp., a Chicago-based independent telephone company, announced the settlement of a lawsuit that MCI filed in April, 1979, alleging that the old Bell System (AT&T and its former operating subsidiaries) and various independent telephone companies, including Centel, conspired to restrain trade in the market for long-distance communications services. MCI previously announced settlements with Continental Telecom, US West and Alltel. Terms were not disclosed.
