Glendora

August 15, 1985

The Glendora Historical Society is launching a fund drive in the hope of raising at least $100,000 for a new building. Its current site is Glendora's first firehouse, built in 1913, which later served as City Hall, police headquarters and a jail. A Historical Society spokesman said it has inadequate parking and lacks space to display most of the society's collection of local memorabilia. A new two-story, 2,800-square-foot building has been designed for construction adjacent to the old one on Glendora Avenue near Foothill Boulevard, which will be preserved for its historical value.
