INDUSTRY NOTES

August 31, 1985

Rockwell International Corp.'s semiconductor division in Newport Beach plans to layoff 67 workers in the next two months. A Rockwell spokesman declined to say how many workers the division employs, but said the reduction represents less than 4% of the workforce. Many of the workers are temporary assembly line workers.

He described the layoffs as "fine tuning in the factory."

The spokesman said Rockwell has not been affected by an industrywide slump in semiconductor sales until recently because its communications business has been so strong.
