HUD Survey Under Way

September 01, 1985

The 1985 survey of housing in the United States has started, according to a spokesman for the Census Bureau, which conducts the survey for the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The bureau has selected a sample of 59,000 housing units from the national stock of 93.5 million, updating the sample every other year to reflect new construction, remodeling and losses from inventory.

Census Bureau representatives will interview households for about four months, and owners, rental agents or neighbors will be asked to provide information on unoccupied units. The results will be published late next year.
