More than 1 million pounds of Oregon rye grass has been shipped to California for aerial seeding over several counties where land was blackened by wildfires this summer. The rye grass will be used in reseeding 201,300 acres to help stabilize soil and halt erosion which could result from heavy winter rains. Forestry officials said the seed should germinate quickly when rains begin this fall.
